New and exciting ventures.....here we come!

If you have been following my Facebook page you may have seen me post lots of sneak peaks about a new project I have been working on behind the scenes over the past few months.....well I thought it was about time I share with you all what is happening.

I am so excited to share with you that I am joining the land of amazing Australian pattern designers. That's right - Little Moo Designs will be adding PDF patterns to our collection very soon!

So what can you expect to see? At this stage my focus is on non clothing items.....items that will make fantastic gifts and aimed at sewers of a confident beginners level. Each pattern has a touch of Little Moo flair, I think you will find them interesting, fun and able to be tailored to your own creative talents.

My patterns will be available via my Etsy Store so be sure to add this to your favourites list so you can keep up to date.

Cute Boots For Tiny Toes.

Since the weather has cooled down this past month I have been searching high and low for some gorgeous soft soled boots for my non walking little man (8 months), alas there was nothing in the shops that suited what I had in my mind so the idea was born.....why not make some myself!
It can't be that hard right??

Well finding a pattern was extremely hard, I trialled two which just didn't fit right, they would fall off and the sizing was all wrong.

So I put my design hat on and came up with my own boots pattern, I made 15 prototypes and tested each size on 2 babies and away we went.

So here is what I came up with -

Available in sizes 2, 3, 4 & 5.

I chose denim and corduroy for the boot outers and warm snuggly flannel and fleece for the inners. They fit perfectly as they have a hidden piece of elastic between the two layers which keeps them on wriggly little feet.

Safe to say they look adorable on as well as being super cosy don't you think?

Here is the colour chart - the options are endless!
Order your custom pair of boots by emailing me at lilmoodesigns@hotmail.com and via our soon to follow etsy store (stay tuned for this).
There are lots more boots to check out via our facebook page here.

Baby Dream Bag Pattern Testing for Make It Perfect.

Last month I had the privilege of pattern testing for one of my fav Aussie designers - "Make It Perfect."

I have purchased many of Toni's gorgeous patterns over the years and was pretty chuffed to be chosen to test her new design the baby dream bag pattern. Master Moo was pretty excited too.

Little Moo Designs Pattern Review Notes:

I found this pattern to be easy to follow, with a clear layout, great pictures and instructions that made sense. I had the pattern printed onto A3 paper at my local newspaper printer (was less that $3 to do so), cut out the size we needed and away we went.

Fabric choice for this project was this cute moustache fabric (purchased from Spotlight) and navy with white polkadot fleece inner, due to the weight of these fabrics I decided not to add another lining layer however this is optional in the pattern depending on what weight you need the sleeping bag to be. QLD winters are milder than some so this weight is perfect for our climate, I do like that you can adjust this pattern to suit your own climate and it would work well with summer weight fabrics also.

I made my own bias binding with navy and white chevron drill, this was well detailed in the patterns instructions.

Not being super confident with zips, I was worried about this step in the pattern, however it was easy with the pattern instructions! Yes I said a zip was easy! (Not sure why I am so scared of them but this pattern helped me conquer the zipper fear)

Anyway - here is the result - I am super happy with how this turned out and would recommend this pattern to anyone wanting to make a baby sleeping bag. It has now been worn and washed for over a month and is in perfect condition, it keeps my little man nice and cosy at night and fits great.

Joining the land of the blogs.

Well hello there, I am very excited to be joining the world of blogging. After much deliberation and hoping that some people may like to read a bit more about me and what I do I am finally here, joining the land of the blogs.

I plan to share with you my sewing and designing journey, I have some exciting new ventures coming up in the near future and look forward to sharing a behind the scenes view of my sewing world.

So a little about me:
I am Kylie, mum to two gorgeous kiddies, self proclaimed fabric addict and sewing lover. I am the owner of Little Moo Designs, which is really like my third baby! It certainly takes up as much time as a child and I love it!

Little Moo Designs was created in 2010, inspired by my babies who bring love and wonder to my world. Little Moo Designs was started after I went searching for a special birthday gift and could not find anything in the stores that I felt fitted the bill. So I put my creative hat on and produced a hobby horse, which then lead to lots of hobby horses which have been created and delivered to their new owners all around Australia and the World.
All Little Moo Designs are designed and created by myself right here in Queensland, Australia, so you can be assured that you are supporting local small business when purchasing from us.
